BMA Contruction Engineers, Inc.

About

The BMA Construction Engineers Inc. Philosophy

I formed BMA Construction Engineers Inc. with a very simple philosophy in mind. To be successful at construction engineering you not only need to be a good engineer, you need to be a good manager, scheduler, accountant, marketer, negotiator, and an open ear constantly listening to opinions, evaluations, and feedback in regards to the work you do.

This philosophy is the backbone of how BMA Construction Engineers Inc. conducts business. We understand the demands placed on the contractor. We have systems and methods in place to meet those demands in a timely and consistent manner and we value the importance of teamwork and communication when fulfilling your engineering support needs.

Most importantly we have a very clear concept of the balance between safety and the demands of construction.    I, personally, firmly believe the following:

SAFETY
An unavoidable by-product resulting
from the solid execution of a well
conceived plan implemented by
competent individuals

At BMA we are committed to providing services that will bolster any one of the three main components of safety. Our services are geared towards quality engineering, systems standardization, and personal development and reflect our dedication to safety on the construction site.

Whether it be an informational phone call or a complete professional product we look forward to working with you to provide you your engineering support needs.

Sincerely,

Brian Mapel, P.E

Brian Mapel

With 15 years of infrastructure construction experience, Brian Mapel is principal engineer and owner of BMA Construction Engineers Inc.  Brian graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from Santa Clara University in 1993 and since then has worked for general contractors such as Raisch Gradeway, Kasler, Morrison Knudsen, and Flatiron Constructors building heavy infrastructure projects.

Brian spent ten years in the field as both field engineer and field management.  Some of his more notable positions in the field were as the concrete engineer for the Morrison Knudsen/Traylor Brothers/ Weeks Marine Joint Venture constructing the High Rise Retrofit of the San Mateo Bridge in the San Francisco Bay Area, and as the tower engineer and then later the marine manager for the FCI/Cleveland Bridge Joint Venture constructing the New Carquinez Suspension Bridge in Crockett, California.

Following the opening  of the Carquinez Bridge, Flatiron Constructors appointed Brian the Chief Engineer of the Northern California Division, located in Benicia, California.  As the Chief Engineer, Brian was responsible for the schedule and output of the division’s engineering department to include the design of temporary structures, the management of division inventory, and the development of training programs and company standards regarding falsework construction, engineering practices, and other field procedures.  Brian served as Chief Engineer until his departure from Flatiron in 2009 to found BMA Construction Engineers, Inc.

Brian firmly believes in the importance of open communications and information sharing in regards to the integration of engineering in construction operations.

In 2006 Brian obtained his Master of Business Administration at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.  Brian is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Institute of Steel Construction, and the Association of General Contractors.  He was inducted into the Order of the Engineer in 1993 at Santa Clara University and has been a registered professional engineer since 2000.  Brian also served ten years as an Armor officer in the California National Guard, completing his last three years as a Company Commander for the 1st Battalion, 149th Armor Regiment, located in Monterey, California.
